Plastic injection mold manufacturer to create 52 new jobs

NASHVILLE — Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Jones Plastic and Engineering officials announced today the company will expand in Camden. The plastic injection mold manufacturer will invest $4.5 million and create 52 new jobs in Benton County.

“I want to thank Jones Plastic for choosing to expand in Camden and for creating over 50 new jobs,” Boyd said. “The manufacturing sector is on the rise in Tennessee with over 45,400 new manufacturing jobs since 2010, and it means a great deal that Jones Plastic will continue to add new jobs to this sector. Thank you, Jones Plastic, for continuing to be a valued member of Team Tennessee.”

Jones Plastic and Engineering is one of the world’s leading plastic injection molders and employs 2,400 employees worldwide. The company’s primary markets are appliances, outdoor products, medical supplies, electronics and automotive.

“Jones Plastic and Engineering is excited to be part of the Benton County community,” Jones Plastic and Engineering Plant Manager Eric Hicks said. “This is the second expansion Jones Plastic and Engineering has made in a four-year period. Jones Plastic looks forward to creating jobs and continually growing in Benton County. The last 20 years have been exceptional and the company intends on helping this community in future endeavors. We would like to thank Benton County and the State of Tennessee for their continual support.”

Jones Plastic will expand its current facility in Benton County to accommodate growing demand and to make room for new equipment. This is Jones Plastic’s second expansion in four years in Camden.

“Benton County is fortunate to have an industrial facility such as Jones Plastic. This is its second expansion in the last four years, creating job opportunities for Benton County citizens,” Benton County Mayor Barry Barnett said. “The jobs created by this expansion will help boost our economy and expand our tax base. Thanks to TNECD and Jones Plastics for providing the opportunity to make this a reality for Benton County.”

“TVA and Benton County Electric System congratulate Jones Plastic on its decision to expand in Benton County,” TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley said. “It’s always an exciting day when an existing company is committed to continuing growth in our rural communities, and we are pleased to partner with Benton County Camden Chamber of Commerce, local officials, and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to celebrate this announcement.”

Camden and Benton County are represented Sen. John Stevens (R – Huntingdon) and Rep. Tim Wirgau (R – Paris) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
