NASHVILLE — Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Sleep Solutions and Services, LLC (S3) officials announced today the company will locate new call center operations in Columbia. S3, a medical software and support company specializing in respiratory services, will invest $3.6 million and create 137 new jobs in Maury County.
“We want to welcome S3 to Tennessee and thank the company for its investment in Columbia and Maury County,” Haslam said. “It means a great deal when a company chooses to start new operations in our state, providing new opportunities for Tennessee’s workforce, and today’s announcement supports our goal of becoming the No. 1 state in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”
S3 is an industry-leading resupply business that employs web-based technology with live support to clients with respiratory medical conditions, such as sleep apnea. Clients work with sleep coaches who provide assistance with ordering supplies to support their medical equipment. Sleep coaches also help manage re-order schedules to ensure that supplies are ordered timely, and communicate with clients on a regular basis to educate them throughout their treatment processes.
“Tennessee has a greater employment concentration for the health care and medical devices sector compared to both the Southeast and nation making our state a great fit for a company like S3,” Boyd said. “We appreciate S3 for selecting Columbia for its newest operations and contributing to Tennessee’s thriving health care landscape.”
“S3 is grateful for the opportunity to open our facility in Tennessee. Our facility will allow us to grow and expand our operations to provide service to customers in all 50 states,” S3 Owner and President David Baxter said. Baxter is also the owner of Medical Necessities which has 10 locations throughout Tennessee. Medical Necessities provides medical equipment and supplies to patients.
“We have been very fortunate to have previous business adventures in Tennessee and love the support we’ve received from the state. We are excited about employing a number of new people to our family of sister companies, and we look forward to growing another business here,” Baxter added.
The Columbia facility will house S3’s sleep coaches in a call center environment. S3 utilizes five outreach methods – live call, email, smart phone app, patient portal, text – to generate a high volume of orders, a high quality of order, and to retain patients long term inside their resupply programs.
“We’re excited that S3 will be locating a new call center in Columbia and creating good jobs for our workforce,” Columbia Mayor Dean Dickey said. “We’re always honored when companies choose our city to start a business, and we wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Columbia and Maury County are represented by Sen. Joey Hensley (R – Hohenwald), Rep. Sheila Butt (R – Columbia) and Rep. David Shepard (D – Dickson) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
