The 2017 Governor’s Conference is less than a month away. Since the location for this year’s conference will be different than previous years, we came up with a list of helpful tips to help you maximize your Governor’s Conference experience.
Parking
No matter what month it is, Gatlinburg is a popular tourist destination throughout the year, but our conference is set to take place during Gatlinburg’s peak tourist season. With that being said, parking might be a bit of a challenge this year, but there are several parking lots throughout downtown Gatlinburg that can accommodate all-day parking. Also, most hotels in the area have free parking that can accommodate you during your stay. Make sure to check with your hotel and see the options.
Coffee
We know how much all of you love coffee in the morning. We will have coffee stations throughout the conference for you to enjoy. There is also a Starbucks located directly across the street from the convention center if you need to add more to your caffeine fix.
Reception
We are holding our reception at the newly-opened Anakeesta. Anakeesta is located right off of Historic Nature Trail in downtown Gatlinburg and is within walking distance from the convention center. Make sure to check in once you arrive to get access to all of what Anakeesta has to offer. Enjoy Tennessee-inspired food a drink while you shop, take in the scenery and listen to some good ole’ fashioned bluegrass.
Trolley System
If you’re looking for a faster way to get around Gatlinburg, look no further than Gatlinburg’s trolley system. This is a great way to get to Anakeesta from the convention center, or if you have plans in downtown Gatlinburg, it’s a great way to get around and see the sights.
What to do in Gatlinburg
If you’re looking for activities to do during your stay for the Governor’s Conference or just getting ideas for your next trip, Gatlinburg has something for everyone. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a great place for family fun. This aquarium is one of the Top 5 aquariums in the nation and world. It includes an underwater tunnel with 12-foot sharks, giant sea turtles and thousands of exotic sea creatures. Rowdy Bear Mountain is also a fun new attraction. The Rowdy Bear Coaster is a gravity-propelled mountain coaster that winds through the woods of Rowdy Bear Mountain. Those are just two of the many great things going on in Gatlinburg.
