TNentertainment.com Offers Comprehensive Resource for All Things Entertainment
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission (TFEMC) announced today the launch of its new website, TNentertainment.com. The site offers immediate access to essential information regarding Tennessee’s thriving entertainment industry and a host of free resources for anyone interested in learning more about entertainment and doing business in Tennessee.
“Tennessee has a storied history and a depth and breadth of overall entertainment resources that no other state can match,” Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty said. “If there is an industry that speaks to the very heart and soul of Tennessee’s culture, it is our entertainment industry. The new TNentertainment.com showcases our talent-driven workforce, creative culture, inspiring locations, business-friendly climate and outstanding quality of life while providing a rich insight into the past, present and future of Tennessee’s entertainment sector.”
“TNentertainment.com is the perfect platform to show the world Tennessee’s unique entertainment assets and promote our flourishing creative class,” Bob Raines, executive director of the TFEMC, said. “The entertainment industry is part of the very history of Tennessee itself, and the growth prospects that exist in this sector are very exciting. The TFEMC remains the best resource for content creators and businesses interested in joining our growing creative community.”
Along with a comprehensive overview of Tennessee’s statewide entertainment advantages, TNentertainment.com features resources for Tennesseans and prospective productions alike, including the Tennessee Production Directory and a comprehensive locations database. Both tools are a way for Tennessee businesses and citizens to market their services and for the TFEMC to recruit new productions to the state.
The Tennessee Production Directory allows producers to identify local film, television, digital media and talent professionals and support services businesses. Tennesseans are encouraged to register their services and talents using this free tool and provide ongoing updates to their online profile as new credits and experience are acquired.
The locations database showcases Tennessee’s diverse topographies statewide including everything from natural and rural areas to urban landscapes to distinctive architecture. Tennessee sites have doubled as remote Asian jungles, turn-of-the-century villages and even a legendary Brooklyn ballpark. If Tennesseans have unique locations or buildings they’d like to submit, they are urged to upload photos on the site for possible inclusion in the database.
TNentertainment.com also highlights the state’s flourishing music industry and the diverse sounds found throughout the state. Tennessee ranks first among all states for employment in music publishing and second for the number of music publishing establishments according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In Nashville alone, 7.8 jobs per every 1,000 jobs are in the music industry cluster, compared to only 2.8 jobs in New York, 2.6 jobs in Austin and 2.0 jobs in Los Angeles.
“As someone who was born in Tennessee and has spent 30 years in the entertainment industry here, I can speak from firsthand experience when I say this state is a great place to live and do business,” TFEMC Chairman and President and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville Troy Tomlinson said. “Few places in the world have such a concentrated cluster of talented, dedicated and hardworking individuals.
The new TNentertainment.com demonstrates Tennessee’s competitive advantages. Additionally, it makes a compelling case for working and living in the state, while highlighting the historical achievements and beauty of Tennessee,” Tomlinson added.
Other helpful resources on the site include everything from music licensing and copyright information to film regulations and incentives. Casting announcements, job postings, new productions, case studies, and photos from Tennessee’s biggest music and film projects can also be found on the site.
Tennessee is home to more than 1,200 entertainment companies that include everything from motion picture and sound recording to broadcasting, film production, musical instrument manufacturing, digital media and music publishing. More than 17,500 Tennesseans are employed in entertainment industries across the state with annual wages totaling $1.1 billion.
