Location & Infrastructure

Tennessee Sound. Heard Across the Country.

Making the best products in the world is just the start—you also have to get them wherever they need to go. In Tennessee, we’re not short on ways to move. You’ll have unparalleled access to markets connected by interstates, highways, rail, river and global air cargo. Our central location connects you to customers faster—and keeps your supply chain grooving.

Takin’ It to the Streets

If you’re going by car, our network of seven interstate highways puts most major U.S. markets within a day’s drive or less.

By train, Tennessee businesses enjoy access to fast and efficient railroad service. Six of the country’s seven Class 1 rail lines and 19 short lines operate in Tennessee, spanning more than 2,900 miles of rail.

Up Where We Belong

Tennessee is home to 76 airports, including the busiest cargo airport in the Western Hemisphere, Memphis International Airport. In addition to our six commercial airports, Tennessee businesses are served by 70 general aviation airports and 150 heliports.

Take Me to the River

In Tennessee, you’ll have access to nearly 1,000 miles of navigable waterways, plus 950 miles of inland waterways, including 165 miles of Mississippi River-front property.

Of all the nation’s inland and navigable waterways, an estimated 75% are within the Mississippi River system, making it the busiest water transportation artery in the country.

Powering What’s Next

Energy

The state’s abundant and reliable power supply keeps costs low for residents and businesses. Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is the nation’s largest public power provider and covers more than 99% of the state, delivering rates below the national average with 99.999% transmission reliability.

Broadband

Tennessee is connected. Prior to 2021, more than 20% of Tennessee residents and businesses lacked access to high-speed internet. Today, that total is less than 2%, with projects underway to get that number down to 0% by 2028. Broadband connects people with opportunities, driving economic growth and improving quality of life across Tennessee.
