NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) today announced that the Boyd Industrial Site in Savannah, Tennessee, is the newest site to be certified through TNECD’s Select Tennessee Certified Sites program. The Boyd Industrial Site becomes the 77th site across Tennessee to receive this important designation.

The Select Tennessee Certified Sites program has helped communities prepare industrial sites for private investment and job creation since 2012. The program sets rigorous standards to give companies detailed and reliable information during the site selection process. This announcement represents the final step of the site development process, which begins with the Property Evaluation Program, continues with the Site Development Grant program and culminates with official site certification, like today’s announcement.
“The Boyd Industrial Site demonstrates to prospective employers that Hardin County is committed to economic growth,” said Hardin County Mayor Kevin Davis. “This will bring quality jobs, increase our local tax base and create new opportunities for our residents, and we look forward to working with our regional economic development partners to benefit our county.”
The Select Tennessee certification process ensures that each certified site meets high-quality standards and are primed for development. Qualifications for certification include having at least 20 acres of developable land for industrial operations, documented environmental conditions and geotechnical analysis, existing onsite utilities or a formal plan to extend utilities to the site, and truck-quality road access. TNECD partners with Austin Consulting to administer the Certified Sites program.
“Improvements to U.S. Route 64 through large portions of southern Tennessee have greatly improved access to places like Savannah and Hardin County,” said Jonathan Gemmen, senior director at Austin Consulting. “The Boyd Industrial Site is a relatively flat, 20-plus acre grassy field located within the city limits of Savannah. Adjacent to the recently improved Tennessee State Route 128 and industrial-grade utility infrastructure, the site checks all the boxes to meet a quick development and construction timeline.”
