• EMS will invest $13.3 million to increase manufacturing capacity and capability
  • Bartlett-based medical device manufacturer will create 60 jobs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Engineered Medical Systems, LLC (EMS) officials announced today that the medical device manufacturer will invest $13.3 million and create 60 new jobs over the next five years to increase manufacturing capacity in Bartlett.

Founded in 2002, Bartlett-based EMS manufactures surgical instruments, implants and specialty medical devices. With growing demand and changing technologies in the surgical field, EMS plans to purchase new state-of-the-art Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) equipment, which will add machining capacity with increased capabilities for its existing location in Bartlett. The company recently expanded its facility in Bartlett from 40,000 to 92,000 square feet to accommodate the increased manufacturing demand.

Since 2015, TNECD has supported 85 economic development projects in Shelby County, accounting for 13,500 job commitments and $4.5 billion in capital investment.
