Adhesive-based products manufacturer and supplier to create more than 85 new jobs
NASHVILLE — Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Scapa Healthcare officials announced today that the company will expand its Knoxville operations. The global supplier and manufacturer of adhesive-based products will invest approximately $40 million and create more than 85 new jobs in Knox County.
“I want to thank Scapa Healthcare for choosing to expand its operations in Knoxville,” Rolfe said. “Scapa Healthcare currently employs more than 180 Tennesseans in Knox County and I appreciate the company for continuing to invest in Tennessee by creating more than 85 new jobs and investing $40 million in Knoxville. I look forward to seeing Scapa Healthcare’s future success in our state.”
Scapa Healthcare is a global supplier of bonding solutions and a manufacturer of adhesive-based products for the healthcare and industrial markets. The company has a global footprint with production sites in Asia, Europe and the U.S.
“We are excited to break ground today and expand our manufacturing footprint in the Knox County region with a state-of-the-art medical device facility that more than doubles our current capacity,” Scapa Healthcare COO John Petreanu said.
Scapa Healthcare plans to consolidate its three buildings in Knoxville into a single location in Knox County. The company will construct a more than 150,000-square-foot facility in the Knoxville-area to expanded operations and keep up with growing demand.
“Thanks to Scapa Healthcare for consolidating and expanding its operations here in Knox County,” Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero said. “It’s a strong show of support from a major corporate citizen that this is a great place to live and do business.”
“This is great example of why supporting existing industry is an important part of our economic development strategy, and why as a county we invest in having places for high quality jobs to locate,” Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said. “We have seen $1 billion in capital investment and thousands of new jobs in our community over the past eight years, and a significant portion of that investment has come from existing businesses like Scapa Healthcare.”
“Our entire board and staff couldn’t be happier about Scapa Healthcare’s decision to remain and expand in Knox County, and it is decisions like this one by Scapa that continue to validate The Development Corporation’s role in developing business parks where companies can locate and construct new facilities and grow their business,” Chairman of Knox County’s Development Corporation Jim Nichols said.
“TVA and Lenoir City Utilities congratulate Scapa Healthcare on its decision to expand operations in Knox County,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “Helping to attract and retain quality jobs is fundamental to TVA’s mission of service and we are proud to partner with the Knoxville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Knox County Development Corporation and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to help further that mission.”
