Custom Heavy Equipment Manufacturer to Invest $6.3 Million, Create 100 New Jobs

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with Greenfield Products officials announced today the company will expand their operations in Union City, investing $6.3 million and creating 100 new jobs during the next two years in Obion County. A leading manufacturer of custom heavy equipment attachments, Greenfield Products will add an additional 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space to their current facility located at 3920 Greenfield Drive.

“I want to thank Greenfield Products for its continued investment in Tennessee and the jobs they are creating in Obion County,” Haslam said. “We remain focused not only on recruiting new businesses to the state but also helping our existing industries continue to grow, and today’s announcement strengthens our goal to make Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

During the last decade, Tennessee’s total export volume has more than tripled with businesses selling $30 billion worth of Tennessee products globally last year alone. Greenfield Products currently exports its merchandise to countries worldwide including Chile, Mongolia, Russia, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Antarctica and parts of Central America.

“Tennessee’s strong manufacturing base, superior logistics infrastructure and quality workforce help companies, like Greenfield Products, produce and ship Tennessee-made goods to countries around the world with ease,” Hagerty said. “I appreciate Greenfield Products’ continued confidence in Tennessee’s inherent strengths and competitive edge, and thank them for further investing in our state.”

“Having an existing foothold in Union City, Tennessee with Greenfield Products over the last seven years has made our decision to expand our opportunities into the future an easy one,” Greenfield Products Executive Vice President Frank Calomino said. “The efforts of growing our manufacturing footprint by relocating additional product lines into Tennessee will bring additional jobs and opportunities for our future growth.

“We appreciate the state of Tennessee, the city of Union City, the Industrial Development Board of the City of Union City, TVA, NWTDD and the Obion County Economic Development Council for fueling the opportunity for Mi-Jack/Greenfield to consider this major expansion in our manufacturing capabilities in Northwest Tennessee,” Calomino added.

Greenfield Products is a leading global manufacturer of custom fork mounted attachments such as masts, carriages, concrete carriages and pipe handling carriages. The company also manufactures intermodal attachments including handling spreaders, container chassis shipping units, container chassis rotators and bomb carts for the container handling industry. With this expansion, Greenfield Products will begin engineering and manufacturing large heavy equipment.

“Greenfield Products has been good for Union City and Obion County. This expansion of their facility and the addition of 100 good jobs will be a real plus for our community,” Union City Mayor Terry Hailey said. “Greenfield Products produces quality products with a quality workforce. We’re trying awfully hard to continue to do the things that make our community a place where companies like Greenfield Products will want to locate, grow and expand.”

“TVA and Union City Electric System congratulate Greenfield Products on its decision to expand its facility and add new jobs in Union City, Tennessee,” John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development, said. “We are glad to be working in partnership with the state of Tennessee, the Obion County Joint Economic Development Council and Union City/Obion County officials to assist in the growth and success of existing companies.”
