Solutions packaging manufacturer to invest more than $42 million, create 110 jobs
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and M&M Industries officials announced that the solutions packaging manufacturer will undergo a major expansion in Chattanooga.
M&M Industries plans to invest more than $42 million and create 110 jobs in Hamilton County.
“We’ve worked hard to make Tennessee a state where existing businesses can thrive,” Haslam said. “It’s always encouraging when an existing employer like M&M creates new jobs and makes a significant investment in Tennessee. I’d like to thank M&M for expanding in Chattanooga and bringing us one step closer to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”
“Expansions by existing businesses are the primary driver of Tennessee’s economic growth,” Rolfe said. “M&M’s commitment to create more than 100 new jobs in Chattanooga is welcome news and reflects the confidence homegrown businesses have in Tennessee’s workforce and business climate. Thank you, M&M, for the continued commitment to Hamilton County and this significant investment in Southeast Tennessee.”
Headquartered in Chattanooga, M&M will purchase and retrofit a building at 1435 E. 14th Street and expand its current manufacturing facility at 316 Corporate Place to suit its expansion needs. The expansions will provide additional capacity to support growing demand across M&M’s product lines.
“All of us within M&M are very excited for the future of this new facility, as well as our expansion at our current facility in Chattanooga,” said Glenn Morris, president and CEO of M&M Industries. “We are excited about our new neighbors and our future employees. We see a bright future for M&M in this location.”
M&M manufactures plastic pails, plastic open head containers and custom packaging for the chemical, pharmaceutical, health care, construction materials and other industries.
Local officials applauded M&M for its expansion in Chattanooga.
“When a local company expands here, it puts more money in the pockets of Chattanooga families and contributes to our local economy,” Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said. “The creation of more than 100 jobs is a great addition to the revitalization of Highland Park and will provide opportunities for workers in our community.”
“The growth of M&M is not only a great story about manufacturing, but a great story about entrepreneurship,” Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said.
Chattanooga and Hamilton County are represented by Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R – Chattanooga), Sen. Bo Watson (R – Hixson), Rep. Mike Carter (R – Ooltewah), Rep. JoAnne Favors (D – Chattanooga), Rep. Marc Gravitt (R – East Ridge), Rep. Patsy Hazlewood (R – Signal Mountain) and Rep. Gerald McCormick (R – Chattanooga) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
