- German-based manufacturer selects Tennessee for its first U.S. facility, invests more than
$3 million in Washington County
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community
Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and BorTec USA officials announced today
the company has selected Northeast Tennessee as its first U.S. location.
BorTec will invest a total of $3.1 million and create 35 new jobs in Washington County through
the project, which establishes a heat treatment plant in Johnson City.
The new operations will mainly produce wear and corrosion-resistant pipes for the oil and gas
industries. BorTec is a subsidiary to German-based BorTec Group. The company will more than
double its worldwide headcount through the Tennessee facility.
Since 2020, TNECD has supported nearly 10 economic development projects in Washington
County, resulting in approximately 660 job commitments and $92.3 million in capital
investments.
