This time of year in Tennessee is always filled with holiday spirit and one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays is to visit Cheekwood and take a look at their Holiday LIGHTS event.

Cheekwood, a 55-acre botanical garden and art museum located just eight miles west of Nashville, has many events throughout the year. But the Holiday LIGHTS is one of its most spectacular and popular.

Cheekwood Holiday LIGHTS is an event that takes place from Nov. 25 and to Jan. 1. The event includes a winter light display designed to create unforgettable experiences for Cheekwood visitors. During this event, Cheekwood glows with the magic of the holiday season with lights shining throughout the gardens. The Holiday LIGHTS event also includes other holiday activities from s’more pits and drink stations to story time with Santa and even two festive Reindeer – Holly and Jolly – who travel from Knoxville and call Cheekwood home during the holiday season.

“Holiday LIGHTS is a particularly exciting time because it’s literally a whole new way to envision Cheekwood,” Cheekwood President and CEO Jane O. MacLeod said. “While there are a lot of holiday light shows across the country, Cheekwood’s is special because it takes advantage of the vistas and the long views that are so unique to this landscape.”

The Holiday LIGHTS experience has a mile-long trail where guest can walk the grounds and see the festive lights throughout the vistas. The grounds are filled with more than 15,000 strings of energy-efficient LED lights with 48 bulbs, about 95 miles of light strings, as well as 107 decorated trees.

Throughout the trail you can make stops at the Cheekwood mansion and the Frist Learning Center. The mansion has rooms filled with holiday decorations, a 20-foot pink-and-white-striped poinsettia tree and carolers who sing all the holiday favorites. At the Frist Learning Center, you can visit Holly and Jolly.

Cheekwood Holiday LIGHTS brings in over 50,000 visitors from all over the world. It is a holiday experience perfect for people of all ages who want to get out with their families and loved ones and enjoy the spirit of the holidays.

“For any visitor of any age who comes to Cheekwood, we can promise you a magical experience when you see the sights and sounds of the holidays across our beautiful 55-acres and our wondrous historic Cheekwood mansion,” MacLeod said. “Poinsettias fill every room and you may even see Santa peaking around the corner.”
