Several of Knoxville’s early founders were Irish immigrants, so St. Patrick’s Day takes on a whole new meaning in this East Tennessee city. More recently, in an effort to acknowledge the role Irish immigrants and their families played in Knoxville’s history, Chandle Turbyville, Josh Turbyville and Christy Watkins reignited the parade tradition to what it is today. This year, the parade is on Saturday, March 12, at 12:45 p.m. Nearly 50 groups, including businesses, school organizations and teams, marching bands, dancers and clubs will be participating.
