Brooxie Carlton

Assistant Commissioner of Community and Rural Development

Brooxie Carlton serves as the assistant commissioner of Rural and Community Development for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. In this role, Carlton directs federal and state grant programs and has overseen the administration of more than 5,500 grants totaling over $2.7 billion in funding.

The Community and Rural Development team partners with communities across the state to support strategic planning, downtown revitalization, industrial site development and essential infrastructure improvements. Through this work, Carlton and her team work to strengthen the economic competitiveness of Tennessee’s rural communities and advance the department’s vision of creating greater opportunity for all Tennesseans.
